Now though , we are ready to roll. Again. Perhaps we never stopped: it seems to be in the blood. Previous generations covered North America and the Far East. The next generation has already been to Australia and back. They are also, regrettably - and hopefully temporarily, continuing the Irish emigrant tradition.
This then is our latest road trip in a series.
We (John, Brendan and Seamus) are now just waiting for departure for Route 66 in April 2011.
If you want to keep up with our progress, check out this Blog from time to time: do please leave a comment. Hopefully all the links you need and more are there. On the top of the site are the Hard Rock Cafes we may hit en route. On the side bar is a link to a GPS positioning system that - while we are moving - will keep you updated on our precise location. We plan to update the Blog every couple of days but - let there be no panic - if not you can check the Find-me-Spot to establish where we are. If you can't be bothered to check the site then you can sign up for email updates (link at bottom of site) - we might be escaping but you can't!
We have read the books (there's a surprise), looked at the DVDs (even Baghdad Cafe and Dathai ar Route 66). Deirdre has supplied the sweets and updated the T shirt. Cecilia ensured the plan was viable and became a reality. Thus supported, we plotted a 66 Route.
Its amazing how many variations on a theme there are to 'The' Route 66. We hope our selection proves interesting. We may miss the opportunity to go to a rodeo but otherwise we seem to be set for a great trip. It has all been transferred to Garmin files. Cameras have been selected, video tested and ready. We have the tickets, Hertz is booked, key accommodation is reserved.
OK. We are ready - let's get going!
Next month it all starts here:
Hope you can join us.
